The following list sounds a lot more than it usually ends up being!
To distribute flyers for neighborhood events.
When the neighborhood directory is periodically updated. Phone numbers, addresses and emails might need to be checked. Someone familiar with the block would be helpful.
To be an identifiable resource person and liaison to the Board and the block.
To alert neighbors and disseminate information from the Board to the neighborhood in a more inclusive way. At the moment it is “hit or miss” for not everyone attends neighborhood meetings or uses the list serve or web site.
To provide newly arrived residents with welcome packages.
The Good Neighbor Project is a Madison Police Dept. initiative. Data show crime prevention is most successful when people know and communicate openly with their neighbors. The job of the MPD is enhanced with neighborhood collaboration. Block captains are a piece of the puzzle. For more information:
